Cafcass and OnePlusOne are committed to keeping your personal information safe. We particularly understand the importance of offering the option for anonymity for individuals when addressing personal issues.

The Privacy Notice explains what information we gather about you and what we use that information for.  It also sets out your rights in relation to your information and who you can contact for more information or queries.  Click on the links below to take you to the more detailed sections of this Privacy Notice:

The Cafcass Co-Parent Hub is a voluntary and free resource for parents and carers to support them in making the best arrangements for their children. It is not a statutory part of the court ordered case work undertaken by Cafcass Family Court Advisors. However, for some users, a Judge in their case may have ordered Co-Parent Hub use.

Cafcass and OnePlusOne will act in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy forms part of our overall Terms and Conditions and we reserve the right to amend it as we deem necessary.

Giving permission consent for the use of your data

When you register with the Co-Parent Hub, you will be required to tick a box that says “I have read and understood the terms and conditions and consent to Cafcass using the data that I share on the Co Parent Hub in line with the Privacy Notice”.

By ticking this box, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions and that you understand you are giving permission for Cafcass to use the data you share in accordance with this privacy notice.

When you register with us you are stating that you are over 16 years of age, as per the terms and conditions for the service. You agree that any information you provide to us about yourself upon registration or at any other time will be true, accurate and complete.

Why we collect data       

Cafcass wants to understand if the Co-Parent Hub Service is useful to parents in making arrangements for their children. Cafcass is collecting data for the purposes of research and evaluation; to understand the potential impact and benefits of the Co-Parent Hub.


What data do we collect?

Cafcass will collect and protect the following data that you submit throughout your usage of the Co-Parent Hub.

  • The email address that you use to create an account
  • Your personal profile data that you choose to fill out
  • Your answers to questions in quizzes or surveys
  • Any goals that you create
  • Data that shows your progress throughout the Co-Parent Hub, e.g. scores on quizzes.

We want you to get the most benefit you can from the material on this site. You do not have to add personal information, for example your full name and date of birth, to the Co-Parent Hub and you can use a non-identifying email address when you sign up.


How your data will be used

We will use information registered users provide to do the following:

  • Compile statistics and research, for example we will be able to calculate how often individuals use the Co-Parent Hub and the parts of the site which individuals’ access.
  • Monitor and evaluate to inform and develop the Co-Parent Hub service delivery.
  • Improve your experience of the Co-Parent Hub website, for example to be able to offer you a more user-friendly navigation around the website sections.
  • Offer resources and information that are relevant to your personal “goals”, your interests and individual circumstances.
  • Learn how beneficial the content on the Co-Parent Hub has been to parents and carers.

Where appropriate, you may be asked if you will consent to give feedback on your experience of using the Co-Parent Hub.

If you are currently involved in a family court case, it is your decision about whether you tell the Cafcass worker allocated to your case that you have accessed the Co-Parent Hub. If you decide to tell your Cafcass worker, they may ask you about how you got on with various parts of the site – your goals, and your Parenting Plan for example. It is hoped that sharing some information with them will be helpful to you in resolving your dispute.

Unless legally bound, we will never pass any personal identifiable information to any other organisation or third party.


How we deal with safeguarding concerns which may arise

If the data and information you place on the Co-Parent Hub raises a concern about your safety, the safety of another adult or child we may be legally bound to share your information further. However, if you have a safety concern you are advised to seek advice through this link.


How we protect your data

We have both digital and operational safeguards in place to make sure your data is secure.

Your data is encrypted and secured at a data centre in London, UK.

Access to the information is reviewed on a regular basis and limited to those people in Cafcass and OnePlusOne who actually need to access it and are assigned the permission to do so.


How long we keep your data for

Cafcass and OnePlusOne are committed to retaining your personal information for no longer than necessary and only in relation to the purpose for which it was originally collected. This is in line with the Information Commissioners Office.

Unless you request that your account be deleted, data will be held for 7 years. Data will be minimised to remove data that could help identify a user at the end of retention period, and then archived.

For parents involved in a family court case: the only exception to the 7-year period is if you choose to tell your Cafcass worker allocated to your case that you have accessed the Co-Parent Hub and consented to share information. Cafcass may add this to your case file notes in which case the information will be held until the youngest child turns 25.

Your data rights

You have various rights in relation to your personal information.  You have a right to request:

  • us to delete, or stop processing, your personal information.
  • that we correct or update any discrepancies or inaccuracies in the information we hold about you.
  • to withdraw consent to our processing of your personal information (to the extent such processing is based on consent)
  • object to our processing of your personal information.
  • You have the right to ask for all the personal data held by OnePlusOne and Cafcass by making a subject access request. Please see Cafcass’ Privacy Notice for further information.

If you would like to make a request relating to any of the rights above, please send a request by emailing

If you make a request, we will not charge you for either considering or complying with a request. We will ask for proof of identity and upon this being successfully verified we will do the following:

  • A data controller representative from Cafcass will respond to you within the legislative timeframe and,
  • Settle the matter within a month, unless the matter is especially complex or numerous, in which case the matter will be settled within two months.

You may delete your profile information or your account at any point. To delete your account, simply go to your profile page and press the “delete account”

Contacting you regarding your data

We may in future request further information from those who have joined the site for example to assist us in our research. We will always contact registered users beforehand explaining our reasons in detail. Whether registered users choose to provide such information or not is entirely their decision. Any information provided will be subject to the terms of this policy and used only for the purposes specified in detail when we contact you.



We may change this privacy notice from time to time. Any future changes or additions to the processing of your personal data as described in this privacy notice will be updated on the Co-Parent Hub website.
